I am going to make this, this week,halving the ingredients. Am going to put in in my slow cooker.

My questions are a) What heat should I use and a) how long should it take?

The honest answer is that I don?t know. I haven?t had a slow cooker for at least 20 years. I am thinking of getting one, but haven?t got around to it. If I remember correctly, I used to put chicken casserole/curry in it for 4-5 hours. In those days, it only had one setting, I think and took 4-5 hours.

After a brisk boil, cooking it on a simmer usually takes around 30-40 minutes.

I cooked a Lamb chop curry the same way today, it cooked in about 2 1/2 hours, but then meat of course takes longer. At a guess, I would say 5-6 hours for 1/2 kg. chicken, on a low setting, if you are not bringing it to boil first.

May be someone else here would know better!

Was intending to bring it the boil, then putting it in. So for that amount do you think perhaps 4 hours on medium?

Any suggestions are welcome.

I know you are probably wondering why I don't just finish cooking it on the hob. I was intending to go out that afternoon.
